Open Enrollment

Open enrollment is the period each year when you can sign up for, change, or cancel your health insurance. This time frame varies for individuals who are insured through their employer, but if you enroll for health insurance through Covered California or are eligible for Medicare, here are the dates for this year’s open enrollment.

Covered California Open Enrollment
November 1, 2024-January 30, 2025 

Medicare Open Enrollment  
October 15-December 7, 2024 (coverage becomes effective January 1, 2025)

Medicare open enrollment is the one time during the year when ALL Medicare enrollees can make changes to both their health plan and prescription drug coverage.

If you are eligible for Medicare, you have the option of choosing traditional Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan that provides both hospital and doctor coverage.

  • Humana/Central Valley Health Plan
  • Wellcare by Health Net
Do I have to wait for Medicare Open Enrollment to make a change to my health plan?

While you can only switch health plans during the AEP, you can change your provider network at any time. Simply call the Member Services number on the back of your health plan ID card and ask to switch to the primary care provider and network of your choice. You can search here to find the primary care physicians who belong to CVMP.
